Increasing awareness of the significance of plant-microbe interactions in plant biology leads inevitably to a search for lab activities that will help to teach these concepts. This presentation outlines protocols for several effective and practical experiments for the teaching lab. Included will be activities that use familiar Agrobacterium and Rhizobium, as well as labs that focus on less frequently studied Methylobacterium (my favorite), mycorrhizal fungi and soil bacteria. Some of these experiments were developed in collaboration with EDVOTEK, and are expected to be available soon in kit form.
