The syntheses of secondary metabolites including isoflavones are increased by various elicitors. We have searched the elicitors which could be used for massive production of soybean based materials such as isoflavones. We tested two known stress related chemicals found in plants, salicylic acid and methyl jasmonic acid. We found that isoflavone production reflect different stress related metabolic pathways. In addition, we will discuss an elicitor which can induce the phenyl propanoid pathway effectively. We study the regulation of the genes of phenylpropanoid pathway using this simple germinating soybean system.
